Spicy Black Bean Curry Burger

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Large White Onion (chopped finely)
  • 1/2 Large Garlic (chopped finely)
  • 1-2 Large Portobello Mushrooms (chopped finely)
  • 1/2 TSB Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Can of Black Beans
  • 1 Cup Bread crumbs

Spices

I tend to like my food very spicy, so I would suggest you apply the amount of spices that work for you. You can use more or less of any of these spices. Just like a curry, there is no rigid recipe. Do what tastes good for you. I normally just eyeball it.

  • 1tsp salt
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tbs garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbs Cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tbs chili powder
  • 1/2 tbs sriracha powder
  • 1/2 tbs cumin
  • 1/2 tbs garam masala
  • 1/2 tbs curry powder
  • Homemade paneer cheese (although you can sub for any cheese of your choice)

  • Wash all vegetables and rinse black beans
  • Mash half of the black beans and then mix all beans together in a bowl
  • Fry onions, garlic, mustard seeds with ghee until fragrant
  • Add all spices and fried vegetables to the beans and mix
  • Add bread crumbs and mix
  • Shape the mixture into 4 burger patties
  • Sprinkle top and bottom of patties with bread crumbs
  • Toast hamburger bun and add condiments of your choice
