In the outskirts of Kingston, there are some real gems. We have Frontenac Park, Sydenham Lake, Gould Lake, and some real historical treasures. Among those gems is a local business called, Memory Lane, Flowers, and Gifts. It is an adorable little florist and consignment shop located in the heart of Sydenham. The shop has been open for 21 years and is still going strong. Inside the shop is comfortable and cozy. Soft music plays in the background as you smell subtle wafts of maple and flowers.
The shop dates back to the 1800’s and is one of the oldest buildings in the village. It was the local blacksmith’s shop and the original flooring, and walls still exist to this day. When you first walk in you smell their signature scent of maple wafting through the shop from the candles and room spray.
The scent of the maple products mixes well with the soft subtle scents of the flowers. Immediately you feel a sense of warmth and coziness. The decor is simple and sweet and gives a sense of antiquity and comfort of a grandmothers house. In addition to selling flower arrangements, Memory Lane sells local artistry, hats, mitts, photo cards and jewelry.
Christine is the warm, friendly, welcoming, and helpful owner and florist. She specializes in flower assortments for weddings, funerals, graduations and general life moments. She has a keen sense of what her customers want and never fails to deliver. In fact, she never makes the same arrangement twice, unless upon special request. Christine is the shop owner that you come in to have a visit with. She knows a lot about the town and can bring you up to speed on both history and current events. You can tell she loves what she does and shares a special bond with the local community.
If you are in town it is worth checking out this little gem. Furthermore, if you’re not looking for flower arrangements, you can definitely leave with an assortment of local souvenirs, or even just feel great after having a chat in the shop with Christine.
