Seoulites are crazy about books and reading. No matter where you go or what you do, you will always see several Korean people carrying and/or reading books. You see people studying on trains, reading at coffee shops, and many people are in all kinds of book clubs.
Given the obsession with education and reading, it only makes sense that Seoulites would extend their love of reading to shopping malls. In fact, this year a new public library opened up in the center of one of Seoul’s most prominent malls.
This year Coex shopping mall introduced the Starfield Library. The library is free and open to the public. It boasts over 50,000 books and magazines. There are stylish reading chairs, and it is two floors. There are also a couple of cake shops for you to enjoy a treat and a coffee while you read or study.
The library is a really nice environment to rest, relax and enjoy a good read. The ambiance is exceptionally nice at Christmas because there is a giant Christmas tree in the center of the library. On occasion performances and other activities are hosted at the library.
I was really impressed with the library, the ambiance is really nice and it seems a great way to encourage a community of readers.
